Find value in the Pelicans tonight when they take on the Lakers

Check out this roster. Look at that coin unavailable to play. The prop bets are finally starting to roll out for the New Orleans Pelicans.

One thing I learned playing Daily Fantasy Sports is that minutes are one of the most important things to look at. Some teams split their minutes pretty sparingly with the bench, and some teams will let the starters run out as many minutes as needed to get victory. Then there’s Jokic, but that’s a different story.

Here we have 27 minutes available from Trey Murphy, 18 from Jose Alvarado, which means we will see an uptick in minutes from Jaylen Nowell, Jamal Cain most notably, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and I think with Daniel Theis’ athletic ability, he will be needed tonight as there will be foul trouble with Anthony Davis. I imagine the bigs from the Pelicans will all play similar minutes.

ON TO THE BETS

Now that we have an idea of reliable minutes, (remember, minutes = opportunity), probably the only thing we can bank on tonight, let’s seek out those prop bets. Even if the Lakers blow out the Pelicans, they still only have 10 players that will play.

It’s still early to get any kind of bets on Brandon Boston, which I want to place bets on his steals, rebounds, assists, 3 pointers, anything really. There should be decent value in him, however, he’s just not listed on the books.

I think at this point to get bets in early, we’re gonna have to look to Brandon Ingram. He is arguably the best play on the books tonight, the offense will run through him and he will probably play close to 40 minutes.

Looking at DraftKings and Fanduel, we can bet the PTS + REB + AST ladders. What is a ladder? A ladder is where you place a one or two unit bet on an almost even money bet. And then follow the ladder to a 1 Unit, 3/4 Unit, 1/2 Unit and 1/4 Unit bet, or however many ladder steps are available (props).

So the first pick a 2 UNIT play would be Brandon Ingram 40+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110) on DraftKings. So that is a 2 unit play, followed up by segments in the ladder:

Then play 1 unit on Brandon Ingram 45+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (+220) on DraftKings.

Then play a .5 play on Brandon Ingram 50+ Points + Rebounds + Assists (+500).

You can do the same on Fanduel, just space out the ladder steps and you can actually go up by just a point or two.
